Fountains Abbey were looking to install a Digital Signage solution that was easy to use and update. The ideal system would provide them with the tools to communicate messages effectively to their visitors, because the screens were to be installed in high footfall areas, they needed to be of high quality and aesthetically pleasing.
Digital Media Systems held a number of on-site demos and installed demonstration equipment for the customer to trial. The staff that were to ultimately manage the system had a chance to test the functionality before a commitment was made to roll out the whole solution.

An array of full High Definition commercial grade displays, of varying sizes, are installed in the visitors centre, restaurant and also outdoors. They can be updated via a USB memory stick or over the computer network. Content can be split down in to zones or played full screen and can consist of virtually any file format that is available on a computer, including pictures, videos, web pages, office documents, PDFs and RSS feeds. Once the content is created using the Drag ‘n’ Drop management software it can be scheduled to play up to 6 months in advance. This allows the staff to create content well in advance of any upcoming events.

Roy, The National Trust, Fountains Abbey said:
We approached Digital Media Systems with a view to them providing us with a solution that allowed us to engage with the public in an easy, effective and memorable manner. We needed to update the displays with eye catching content, showing information such as what’s on now, upcoming events, menus, information videos and more, allowing us to give an improved visitor experience. The content is updated regularly by our own staff.

We required a combination of standalone and networked displays which were to be installed, both indoor and outdoor, throughout the site. The solution that we went for came both within budget and timescale.

Digital Media Systems have been happy to help us every step of the way, they’ve provided demonstration equipment and been on the end of the phone if we had any questions.
I am very happy to recommend Digital Media Systems, Avtar in particular, who helped achieve our requirements.”

Speaking about the project, Avtar Singh, Managing Director of Digital Media Systems said:
We are very proud to be the choice partner for Fountains Abbey. Providing them with a solution that is in the public eye, with over 340,000 visitors in 2010, was an exciting challenge.
With such a high profile UNESCO world heritage site Digital Media Systems made sure that the products that were installed would do exactly what was asked of them.

Fountains Abbey is a spectacular visitor attraction in North Yorkshire, a must see for visitors to the region.”
