Branston Community College has Business and Enterprise Specialist status and is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive school of around 1050 students which includes a successful Sixth Form.
In September 2007 the college became one of the small minority of schools in the top rated 'outstanding school' category by Ofsted.
The College was one of the first eighteen schools selected for designation as a Specialist Business & Enterprise College from September 2002.
In 2003, the College became a DCSF Pathfinder Enterprise School and in 2006 was designated as the regional hub school for Enterprise.
The College were looking for a Digital Signage solution to display information to their students, such as, canteen menus, department notices, special events etc. The solution had to be easily maintained, updated and needed to produce professional looking content. After visiting the BETT show in January 2009 the college decided to run a free 30 day trial.
The successful trial resulted in staff, students and visitors being kept informed of what was going on in the college and community.
Branston Community College have screens linked to DISE players allowing content to be targeted to any selected screen.
About the suggested solution:
The DISE software is Scalable yet flexible with built in content design tools. Existing content such as Adobe PDF and Power Point Documents can be incorporated. This allows users to get their screen networks running quickly and easily. The software is centrally managed and has an easy to use feature rich interface. DISE was taken on as a solution as it fit with the client's current requirements and would easily service their future needs.
“DISE allowed us to create image lists that picked up the images from certain folders which allowed us and with some teachers to drag and drop there pictures into these folders. Also with scrolling tickers, which can be updated using a .txt file, again which teachers and staff can alter them self. The timings/scheduling feature is excellent” said Chris Drew, ICT Technician.
